In brief

  • The current app processes your library and voice scripts on your device.
  • Connected services receive requests only when you use them.
  • Contact: support@sfxlbuilder.com.
  • Joining the beta is optional. It stores an encrypted email and your editor, and you can remove it any time.

Who is responsible

Emanuel Kuvingwa, based in São Domingos de Rana, Cascais, Portugal, develops SFX L’Builder and is responsible for the support information received directly and the operation of this website. Services you choose to use, such as Freesound and Apple, have their own privacy policies.

Email support and privacy requests to support@sfxlbuilder.com, or send a private message through the contact page. The Support page explains what to include. The website has two forms, the optional beta form and the contact form, both described in the Privacy Policy. There is no file-upload service.

What stays on your device

The current Mac app works locally. It has no app account, advertising, analytics SDK, or automatic crash-reporting service operated by the developer. Your library, searches, projects, and voice-generation text are not automatically uploaded to us.

Removing the app may leave exported files, your sound library, or other local data behind. Manage those files separately. Disconnect Freesound in the app to remove the saved key.

When online services receive information

Online requests happen when you use a connected feature. The destination service receives the request, your IP address, and technical request information. A Freesound request can include search terms, filters, and your API key. A pasted download link sends a request to that site.

These requests go to the selected service; external webpages open in your browser. A cloud folder may synchronize through the cloud provider you use. Sharing or exporting a project can disclose its names, notes, author details, and any included audio to the recipients you choose.

Freesound’s privacy policy and each source’s policy apply to their processing. If a future release is distributed through Apple, Apple handles store-related data under its privacy policy, including any analytics you separately choose to share with Apple.

Website hosting

This website is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare. Website access is separate from using the local app.

To deliver the site and keep it secure, Cloudflare processes technical information such as IP addresses, request times, requested pages, and browser/device information, under its own privacy policy.

The website code does not add advertising pixels, third-party analytics, third-party media embeds, or an upload form; its own privacy-friendly statistics are described under Website statistics. The sample search runs in your browser and does not send its queries to a search service. These statements describe our website code, not all processing carried out by the hosting provider.

See the Cookie Notice.

Website statistics

To understand how the website is used, we count page views, how far a page is scrolled, how long a page is open and visible, which buttons and links are clicked (by name, such as “Join the beta”), the referring website, and your approximate country, device type, and browser.

What we don’t collect. No cookies and no tracking storage on your device (the only stored item is your answer to the privacy notice), no IP addresses, no names or emails, nothing you type, and no mouse movements. We use no advertising or third-party analytics.

How visitors are counted. To count unique visitors per day, your IP address and browser details are combined with a random value that changes every day and is then deleted. The result is an anonymous code that can’t be turned back into your IP address and can’t link your visits across days. The IP address itself is never stored.

Your choice. Choose “Don’t count my visits” in the privacy notice and nothing more is recorded from this browser. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, nothing is recorded.

Legal basis and retention. Our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Detailed records are kept for 90 days, after which only daily totals remain. The data is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database in Western Europe, run by Cloudflare as our processor.

Support information and legal bases

If you contact the developer, the information received can include your email address, name if supplied, message, and any attachment you choose to provide. It is used to answer your request, investigate the issue, and meet applicable legal obligations.

Depending on the request, the bases are taking steps you request in connection with a contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)), legitimate interests in responding to support requests and operating the site securely (Article 6(1)(f)), or a legal obligation where applicable (Article 6(1)(c)). A legitimate-interest basis requires the purpose and impact on your rights to be assessed.

Support email is received through Google Gmail. Send only what is needed; do not include API keys, passwords, client audio, or unredacted private file paths.

Beta and waiting list

If you join the beta on the homepage, we collect your email address, whether you chose Mac or Windows, the date and time you joined, and the version of the consent text you agreed to. We do not collect your name, IP address, or device information for the beta list, and the beta form sets no cookies.

Purpose. To invite the first 50 people to the private beta, to tell everyone on the waiting list when SFX L’Builder launches, and to tell people who chose Windows when the Windows version is ready. We don’t send newsletters, and we don’t share or sell your email.

Legal basis. Your consent, given with the checkbox (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time, which deletes your entry.

Storage and security. Entries are kept in a Cloudflare D1 database located in Western Europe, run by Cloudflare as our processor (see Cloudflare’s privacy policy). Email addresses are encrypted before they are stored. Only the developer can view the list, which is protected by Cloudflare Access.

Notification. When you join, a short notification with your email address, the platform you chose, and whether you joined the beta or a waiting list is sent to sfxlbuilder.app@gmail.com, a Gmail inbox, so Google stores that message under its own terms. It is deleted from that inbox when your entry is removed.

Retention and removal. We keep your entry until the beta ends and the public version launches, and no longer than 12 months after you joined. You can delete it sooner with the private removal link shown after you join, or by writing to support@sfxlbuilder.com.

Tip. You can join with an email alias, such as iCloud Hide My Email or a Gmail “+beta” address, so you can switch it off later.

Contact form

If you send a private message from the contact page, we collect the email address you give us for the reply, your name if you add it, the topic you choose, your message and the time it was sent. We do not store your IP address or device information with the message, and the form sets no cookies.

Purpose. To read and answer your message, including support, press, partnership and privacy requests.

Legal basis. Steps you ask us to take, such as answering a question about the app (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), and our legitimate interest in replying to messages people choose to send us (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Storage and security. Messages are kept in the same Cloudflare D1 database as the beta list, located in Western Europe. Your name, email address and message are encrypted before they are stored. A copy is emailed to sfxlbuilder.app@gmail.com, a Gmail inbox, so Google stores that copy under its own terms. Only the developer can read messages. To block abuse, the number of messages from one connection is limited; the IP address used for that check is not stored.

Retention. Messages are deleted from the database 12 months after they are sent, or sooner if you ask. Email copies are deleted once they are no longer needed for your request.

Retention and international transfers

Local app files remain under your control until you remove them or choose a file-management action. The developer cannot delete or recover files that have not been received.

Support information should be kept only as long as necessary to handle the request and any applicable legal obligations. Provider-managed website data follows the relevant service arrangements.

Hosting, authentication, or future support providers may process information outside the EEA.

Your privacy rights

Depending on the data, purpose, and applicable law, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, object, and receive portable data. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing.

See GDPR & Data Rights for request guidance and information about complaints. Rights apply to personal data held or processed by the relevant party; they do not give the developer access to your local library.

Children and security

SFX L’Builder is not directed at children under 13 or a higher applicable local minimum age. A person must also meet the eligibility requirements in the app terms. No behavioural profiling or automated eligibility decisions are part of the website demo.

The current app uses local storage and macOS protections, including Keychain for the Freesound key. Freesound connections use HTTPS. Keep your device, accounts, and backups secure. App Sandbox configuration and public-build security must be assessed against the actual shipping build; no security certification is claimed.

Policy changes

The policy will be updated when the release, providers, support arrangements, or data practices change. Significant changes should be explained before they take effect. A planned Windows version will need its own confirmed storage, permissions, and online-processing details.
