In brief

  • Your content remains yours, subject to the rights you already hold.
  • Check third-party sound licences before using or sharing audio.

Scope and current availability

These supplemental terms concern SFX L’Builder, its updates, and documentation. The current build is private and runs on macOS; a Windows version is planned.

The app is currently in private beta and is not yet for sale. Website browsing is covered separately by Website Terms.

Who may use the app

You must have legal capacity to enter the applicable agreement, or a parent or guardian who accepts it where permitted. If acting for a business, you must be authorized to do so.

App licence

The licence is personal, non-exclusive, and non-transferable, for use on devices you own or control. A Mac App Store release would be subject to Apple’s permitted usage rules.

You must not sell, rent, sublicense, redistribute, or remove rights notices from the app, or use it unlawfully. Restrictions on reverse engineering apply only to the extent allowed by law. Third-party open-source licences govern their own components and take priority over conflicting restrictions.

Listing an acknowledgement alone does not resolve a licence incompatibility.

Purchases and refunds

No public download or purchase is offered on this website today. Pricing and the sales channel will be stated at release.

If obtained through the Mac App Store, Apple’s purchase, payment, tax, and refund processes apply. For a future direct or Windows purchase, the seller, checkout terms, and refund process must be identified first. Mandatory consumer rights, including any applicable withdrawal rights, remain unaffected.

Your content and your files

You retain the rights you hold in the sounds, scripts, project details, and other content you use. You are responsible for having permission to use that material and keeping backups.

Preview and FX exports preserve the source audio. Renaming, moving, centralizing, and deleting files are separate actions you choose; they can change your library. Check the action before confirming. We cannot restore local files we never received.

An exported project can contain the details you entered and, if you choose, copies of sound files. Share it only with recipients permitted to receive that material.

Editor connections

Handoffs can use drag and drop, prepared audio files, FCPXML import, or the supported Adobe send scripts. Available methods and permissions differ by editor and platform. Third-party editor versions may change compatibility.

The developer does not control or endorse those editors. Use them under their own terms, and confirm that your imported audio arrived as expected.

Third-party sounds and sources

Freesound, pasted download links, and external sound sites provide material owned or licensed by their authors. The app does not grant rights in that material or guarantee the accuracy of source metadata.

  • Check the licence on the original source before using a sound, particularly for client or paid work.
  • Attribution licences may require a credit; non-commercial licences may prohibit commercial use.
  • A provenance file or generated credits report helps record information but does not guarantee compliance.
  • Download, include in a project, or redistribute a sound only when you have permission.

Your use of Freesound and other services is also subject to their terms.

Generated speech

The current voice model runs locally. Synthetic output must not be used to impersonate a real person, deceive others, evade identity checks, commit fraud, harass, threaten, or infringe rights.

You are responsible for the text and the way the result is used. Make disclosures or retain labels where required by applicable law or the publication platform. Commercial-use rights must remain consistent with the model and component licences in the actual shipping build.

The developer does not claim ownership of your generated speech to the extent permitted by law. Copyright protection and other rights in generated output depend on the applicable law; no guarantee is made.

Updates, support, and privacy

Features and integrations may change through updates, including if a third-party service withdraws access or changes its terms. No fixed support response time or service level is promised unless separately agreed.

Email support and privacy requests to support@sfxlbuilder.com, or send a private message through the contact page. The Support page explains what to include. The website has two forms, the optional beta form and the contact form, both described in the Privacy Policy. There is no file-upload service.

Read the Privacy Policy for app, website, and support-data handling.

Warranties and liability

Subject to mandatory law, the app is provided as available and no promise is made that it will be error-free, compatible with every editor, or that third-party sound or licence information is accurate.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer remedies that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.

If a release is distributed through Apple

For an App Store release using Apple’s Standard EULA, the Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement and applicable store rules govern the store licence. These app-specific terms would supplement, not override, those rules.

If a custom EULA is selected instead, its required Apple clauses—including responsibility for support, warranties, claims, legal compliance, and Apple’s third-party-beneficiary rights—will apply to that distribution.

Termination, governing law, and changes

You may stop using the app. A final licence may provide for termination following a serious or repeated breach, subject to applicable law; open-source rights are governed by their own licences.

The governing law is Portugal. Mandatory protections and available courts for consumers in their country of residence remain unaffected. Portuguese alternative dispute-resolution information is available from Direção-Geral do Consumidor.
